Materials pertain principally to Aswell's political career and Louisiana politics; World War I; and post-war European conditions. Included are diaries documenting Aswell's official missions to Europe and scrapbooks on his career as an educator. Diary #4 discusses the presence of Jews in Poland following WWI. Bacon, Albert C. Photographs and Papers, 1916-1963, undated (bulk 1948-1955). 0.75 linear ft. Location: UU: 108. World War I veteran, photographer, and musician from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Primarily consists of photographic negatives and prints on subjects such as Baton Rouge, the Mississippi River, the LSU campus, chemical plants and oil refineries, local parades, and area flooding circa 1950. Writings include an account of Bacon’s service as a United States Marine in France during World War I. Printed materials include Baton Rouge postcards, LSU ephemera, Delta Zeta publications, and a scrapbook about Huey P. Long. Mss. 1625.

Badon, Robert, 1896-1998, interviewee. Oral history interview, 1995. 1 sound cassette (1.25 hours), transcript ( 41 p.). Location: L:4700.00555. Robert Badon was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana and educated in St. Martinville. He worked as a New Orleans public service employee, a county agent, and a school teacher. He was a veteran of World War I and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in agriculture in 1918. Badon discusses early life and education in St. Martinville, his experiences as a cadet at LSU, as a county agent, and as a teacher, coach, and principal. He tells of anthrax vaccinations, introduction of fertilizer in sugar cane farming, and the spead of information in rural areas. Letters reflect the personal experiences of Gary Bagwell, a U. S. sailor serving in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He details his personal activities, wartime events, military engagements, and the actions of the Viet Cong. He also describes the landscape, people and customs of Vietnam and Taiwan. Mss. 3279.

Family papers include correspondence, club and organizational records, photographs, manuscript volumes, financial documents, and printed items. Also included are records for the family’s ancestral home, The Brame-Bennett House, and materials related to the family’s legal fight to prevent the widening of Highway 67 in Clinton. He relates his views on ROTC at LSU; the effects of Vietnam War protests on the program, and he offers recollections of Dean Arden French and Dean James Reddoch of LSU.
